  Poisson Image Merging Demo

  In-browser Photoshop healing brush? Totally!

  While others wrote their CV summer course assignment in MATLAB, I chose to do it in the browser. The algorithm is based on the paper Poisson Image Editing. File API and <canvas> for image reading and rendering, Web Workers for parallelism and live result updating, and Gauss-Seidel method implemented in JavaScript.

  How complex can you make a Celsius-Fahrenheit Converter? Here's my try.

  The idea seemed simple when I started out after being told to implement a user-friendly degree converter in HTML5. Evidently, things got out of control when I actually took to writing it.

  Wind Desktop

  Wind Is Not a Desktop. Well it actually is (trying to be one).

  GNOME 3 got me thinking about the possibilities of a desktop environment evolution. If we dare to be deviant and drastic, things on the computer could be made much more accessible than they are now. While it would not have been easy to implement any of my ideas in C, it was easy to do a quick prototype in the browser.

  A special Girls' Day gift to the two princesses of our class.

  Serving as class head in the CS department, how else would you prepare a gift for the girls on their day? Being the web-platform-fanatic that I am, of course I'd make a cuddly webpage, powered by nothing but JavaScript and OpenKeyval, decorated with lovingly-made vector art, asking the girls for their 5 wishes.

  The International 2 Prelim Brackets

  Why not? It was an awesome event for an awesome game!

  The International 2 was a Dota 2 tournament that made me excited like never before for the future of eSports. The official result page for the preliminaries wasn't satisfactory for me, though, so I hacked up my own version in a couple of hours. It features a home-baked mini jQuery-like library, and minimal use of JavaScript thanks to CSS3.

  The Web Platform is good stuff. Share it and spread it by giving lectures!

  While serving as head of the technical division of ISCA, I gave this series of lectures to share my love of the web platform with curious newcomers. These are the slides for the first introductory lecture. They are based on an earlier version of Paul Rouget's DZSlides. I also made a video about the "bleeding edge" (you can tell I'm not that good at this).

  My own music player. It has to look good.

  Granted, it's not the easiest thing ever to write a good-looking music player in Java. I still gave it my best shot — customized Swing components for a novel horizontal scrolling playlist interface, SwingWorker and AWT 2D Graphics for playlist image aggregation, custom ID3 and LRC parsing, and JMF for actual audio playback.

  Turing Machine

  Guess what my first reaction after learning about Turing Machines was.

  It was freshman year, jQuery had just taken to the skies, there was no Web Worker, and I learned about Turing Machines in the course "Introduction to Computer Science". Sure, without parallelism back then, it would hang if you tell it to run a few hundred steps — but still, those were the days.
